Project Overview:
Role: UX Designer
Duration: 2 months
Team: Collaborated with UX Team, Product Managers and Developers Ecommerce
Tools Used: Sketch, Adobe CC, Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics and Jira.
Background
There was a growing trend around customers leaving products in the basket and never checking out. It looked like it was causing customer hesitancy when converting users from basket to checkout. It can also cause discrepancies within basket analytics. Our goal was to give the customers a way to save projects materials or other products they were comparing to reduce the basket
Problem Statement:
Surrounding project based work. In the DIY space there are frequent paired purchases of project materials. We set out to design a list that can be saved, downloaded or shared via a link.
Project Goals:
- Allow users to create lists for their DIY projects
- Reduce stale basket
- Leave space for iteration for multiple lists in the future
- Update the website in key areas to support the ease of use for the project list
Design:
- Started with a UX competitive analysis
- Designed multiple wireframes across what information is important within the list
- Identify where the list should sit within the website
- Create 2 separate user journeys for users logged in and logged out
- Create a list merger UI for customers with a logged in and logged out list
Development:
Worked closely with developers to ensure seamless integration of design and functionality.
QA tested within the staged environments
This was the first stage of the wish list project which was named ‘Project list’ to encourage Traders to save entire shopping lists for their clients as well as DIYers who are looking to transforms parts of their home.
Product Details Page
We added light box style confirmation message that products were added to the list.
The PDP also included a saved to project active and inactive state on every PDP depending if the product was added to the users list.
Navigation
Added the project list into the mobile navigation and updated the top bar of the website on desktop & tablet.
Learnings
Developing the product so it has allowed users to have a space to use for their own projects without having to save links in documents has kept them engaged with our website. Anything that can be done to elevate the ease of use of the basket and reduce basket removals will increase the chances of users returning to purchase other home projects they are working on.
